APRAF gets a new name; Jo Usher gets a new title

Six years ago, the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations took on responsibility for Kenyon's annual funds, giving birth to the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations and Annual Funds (APRAF). Although she loves her job, Lisa Schott, executive director of APRAF, dreaded having to write or say her job title. "It was quite a mouthful," she laughs. Now, the problem has been addressed. As of July 1, APRAF became the Office of Alumni and Parent Programs. "We were almost unanimous in our desire for a new name. We looked at a number of possibilities. We knew we wanted 'parents' in the title because they are such an important part of the College. Parents love Kenyon as much as -sometimes even more than - the students," says Schott. As part of the change, Associate Director of Alumni and Parent Relations and Annual Funds Jo Usher is being promoted to the position of director of annual funds. "Having Jo take over day-to-day issues surrounding annual funds will let me spend more time on the road talking with alumni and parents. There's just no replacement for that kind of personal contact," says Schott.
