Gambier is talking about...
A new bishop
Katharine Jefferts Schori was elected this summer as the new presiding bishop of the Episcopal church. Schori is the first woman to hold the position and is the wife of Richard M. Schori '60.
Running out of gas
While the rest of America worried about rising fuel prices, the citizens of Gambier decried the closing of Campus Auto and Fuel, the village's only gas station. The proprietor closed up shop in late August.
A tree for the ages
The great old oak tree that graced the lawn in front of Rosse Hall--that graced the Hill, indeed, before there was a Kenyon--succumbed to age this summer. A large crack had developed in the tree, which was estimated to be more than 300 years old. As the crack widened, the tree began to lean precariously toward Middle Path. A crew of thirteen workers dismantled the oak, finding its core hollow.
